Find the whole article HERE.

Wicked Film and "Jesus Christ Superstar" Remake on Platt's Plate
By Andrew Gans
15 Jul 2008

Marc Platt has extended his contract with Universal Pictures for five years, according to Variety.

Marc Platt Productions currently has several projects of interest to theatre plans in the works, including a film version of the international hit Wicked, a remake of the 1973 Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice film "Jesus Christ Superstar" and a new motion picture about the life of the late composer George Gershwin.

Universal Pictures production president Donna Langley told the industry paper, "Our goal now is absolutely to make the Wicked film, but much like Judy Craymer wouldn't give up screen rights to Mamma Mia! until the stage show had reached its pinnacle, Marc and Stephen Schwartz are very mindful of the right timing. But we're dying to do it."

Platt told Variety that he and Wicked co-producer David Stone are currently in "early movie talks" with the studio. Winnie Holzman, who penned the Tony-nominated book for Wicked, will write the film's screenplay. No casting has been mentioned.

Well, I have misplaced my cell. I am hoping it's in the truck which is at the mechanics. It's not been used for a week so I know no one has it. So if I haven't returned your call, it's cause I haven't gotten it.

2nd and more importantly... I haven't had power for 3 days. UGH! We just got the power back about an hour ago and let me tell you... AC is a BLESSING.

I am going to go pass out under a nice breeze by a fan and AC.

Das tut mir leid...

I have become addicted to the TV show JAG. Never got to see it when it aired during primetime. I keep hoping to see the episodes where NCIS branched out to become a great show of it's own.

No news is good news they say... that seems to be my current holding pattern. Part of me doesn't want to know but there is a small part that keeps saying (more like screaming) inside my head that maybe it won't be as bad as they think. We will wait for the verdict...

Found the following singles I like a lot lately. I find myself listening primarily to UK and German radio and thought I'd share some of my favorites. Enjoy. Let me know how you feel about these. Potential US hits?

Black Kids - I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend
<lj-embed id="14" />

Scouting for Girls - Heartbeat
<lj-embed id="15" />
(for some reason they disabled the embedding of the official video which can be found HERE)

Duffy - Mercy (reminds me a lot of Amy Winehouse)
<lj-embed id="16" />

The Last Shadow Puppets - The Age Of The Understatement
<lj-embed id="17" />

Girls Aloud - Can't Speak French (Eric and Claude, think you both will like this one)
<lj-embed id="18" />

Gabriella Cilmi - Sweet About Me (another Amy Winehouse type)
<lj-embed id="19" />

H Two O ft Platnum - Whats It Gonna Be (Another one for Eric and Claude... can't wait for a power remix of this)
<lj-embed id="20" />

So yeah, I am still around. I am down to a size 34... some may have seen me at MAL during my brief outing. I don't much like being around crowds anymore and went my separate way. I had my iPod stolen from my friends room where I was keeping my stuff (the guy my friend was screwing stole a bunch of things after J fell asleep)... my only saving grace is that I had my laptop with me. :(

Was thinking about maybe going to the GL or Omega tonight just cause I need to get out. Anyone recommend one over the other? Which has the better crowd?

Anywho, if you see me out, say hi.

The Kinsey Sicks have joined Mike Huckabee's band and will be criss-crossing the country in an effort to raise money for his campaign, which, if successful, would undoubtedly make groups like The Kinsey Sicks illegal.

"It's the least we can do," stated Winnie. "We've often thought that our band should be banned."

A key component of this campaign will be dragapella divas' upcoming Los Angeles premier of "Condoleezzapalooza!" in LA's Pacific Design Center on Saturday, Feb 9. "Chuck Norris has already bought his ticket," noted Winnie. "Now we just need to sell the other 299."

Tickets purchased for the following shows will guarantee you an invitation to the Huckabee Presidential Inauguration:

Sat., February 16: YORK, PA
The Kinseys perform Condoleezzapalooza at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center, 50 N. George St., York, PA. Showtime is 7:30 pm, and the performance is followed by a panel discussion featuring the Kinsey Sicks. The event is sponsored by Common Roads, Central Pennsylvania's longtime provider of services to sexual minority youth. For tickets call the Box Office at (717) 846-1111.

Anyone else interested in going??? This should be a LOT of fun. I saw them when they were in Baltimore a few years ago.

puts things in perspective

I was sitting here depressed and feeling sorry for myself when John called me and told me about Jonathan. His passing sure puts things in perspective...

I've been thinking about all my memories of him. One of my earliest is of being in NYC and he was running late (of course) and was in that convertible he drove... he picked Duke and myself up and it was scary how he drove.

I'll always have the priceless memories of him standing at Disneyworld waiting for the afternoon parade when the Main Street performing band started circling him and playing "It's a Small World". Those of us who were there with him gave him the nickname "Small World".

and the memory of him doing the biker in the front seat of the mini-van we drove to Disney while we were returning to the hotels from an evening at the Parliment House. The entire time he was blowing the guy I kept thinking to myself... Dear God, please don't let the back of the seat snap off since he had reclined the seat completely and had all of his weight on the upper unsupported part.

I wanted to share some of the pics I had of him. This picture captures his spirit best I think.

If you have some pics or memories of Biggie Shortie please share if you are able.

Sept Update

Gosh... a month gone and nothing new to report more of the same: Was sick again. This time a cyst about the size of a pear appeared on the back of my neck.

Gone through another dozen or so boxes. Slowly getting action figures posted to Craig's List. Anyone want or have interest in old Marvel Comic action figures still on cards? I know I have a Mojo (may have two variants), Rogue, and a bunch of others. Also have lots of fast food promo's (especially Burger King Pokemon stuff still in mint boxes or original bags).

Also have a ton of Magic:The Gathering cards. Lots of foils (full Urza's Legacy set), lots of Vanguard cards and many 6x9 cards (lots of land). Also have many signed cards by Tony diTerlizzi, Kaja and Phil Foligo. Drop me an email if your interested in any of this stuff, prefer $ (no reasonable offer refused, pennies on the dollar I just need to move this stuff) address is poohnnova at gmail dot com

Eric, this is for you.. give it a chance, listen past the rap :)

<lj-embed id="9" />
NOT WORK SAFE WITHOUT HEADPHONES (no offensive graphics, just the music)

Data Crystals... well, sorta...

Sci-Fi has always been on the cutting edge of science truth... seems today we (as humans) have stepped a tiny step closer to bringing science fiction to being science fact.

University boffins squeeze 500GB onto a DVD Aiming for a terabyte

By Jan Libbenga → More by this author
Published Friday 6th July 2007 12:05 GMT

The University of Berlin, with partners Budapest University of Technology and Economics and Universita Politecnica delle Marche in Italy, has managed to work out how to store 500GB of data on a regular HD DVD or Blu-ray disc.

The Microholas project developed a microholographic recording technique, using nanostructures inside the disk rather than on the surface as in conventional optical storage systems.

This allowed for an increase of the storage capacity far beyond the limits of today's red-laser DVDs and next-generation blue-laser discs.

A single-layer Blu-ray Disc can hold 25GB. A dual-layer disc holds double this amount. Single- and dual-layer HD DVDs hold 15GB and 30GB of data, respectively. {NOTE from Rick: regular CD holds ~700MB, Regular DVD ~5GB}

By applying wavelength multiplexing techniques to multi-layer disc structures, very high storage densities can be achieved, Professor Susanna Orlic told German site Pressetext. The 500GB prototype has 50 data-storage layers.

Orl said the technology has the potential to store one terabyte (1TB) of data.

DEAR GOD! 500gig per DVD... I'd be able to convert my porn collection to 5 DVDs...

She wanted script control and a salary close to that of Parker, who was more highly paid than the others because she was co-executive producer of the series. Whatever tensions existed are gone now, sources said. Cattrall has a deal she’s happy with, one the sources said gives her input on her scenes, a fat salary and a future series deal with HBO.

There have long been rumors that supporting cast members like Chris Noth would take part, but New Line has not locked in any such deals.

Wicked Goodness

What is it about gay men and Musicals? Give me a good musical and I am a pig in slop. (quite from the peanut gallery!) Wicked has to be hands down my favorite. Anywho, I found a great vid on Google Video from Japan. It's pared down for Japan Univeral Studios (think seeing the Lion King at Disney World). Check it out at this LINK (be sure to save it using the download button on the right side *WINK*)

WELL worth it!

You can also see FREE low-res versions of the show at YouTube.com Click below to watch the first webisode.

<lj-embed id="1" />
